Shadow AI is the use of artificial intelligence tools or AI-powered features inside a business without formal approval or oversight from IT, security, or compliance teams. It is a form of Shadow IT and can expose organizations to data leakage, compliance issues, and unmanaged security risks when employees use unsanctioned AI platforms to process company information.
